NEW: In new immigration proposals to the parliamentarian, Democrats are considering changing the registry date for status change from 1972 to 2010, per two sources familiar.

The fallback plan Democrats are exploring on immigration Down pointing backhand index. Current law sets a 1/1/1972 entry deadline into the US for qualified undocumented people to apply for green cards. This would push that date to 1/1/2010.

BUT it remains unclear if the parliamentarian would allow it.

Cant believe immigrants can be this dumb that democrats can sell this crap. Tomorrow if someone tells me sun rose from west, i might believe him but not this crap. If you can just update a date on any thing, just imagine how wonderful the world we will be living in. Everybody will be billionaires. And on a legislation of this magnitude and with so much opposition from republicans ??? Never. Even if democrats are brave enough and go on kamikaze mission and include it in budget reconciliation, supreme court will struck it down. As MacDonough said, the magnitude and scope of the bill far outweighs the budget it is being reconciled to. If democrats are really serious, care abt immigrants and are ready to sacrifice short term future, just get rid of filibuster rule, bring an independent immigration bill and pass with simple 51 majority. That has 1000% times more chances of passing than this budget reconciliation crap. Keep being fooled people.
